Traction alopecia: protecting your edges without giving up your style

Illustrative close-up of early hair thinning at the hairline

Traction alopecia is hair loss from repeated pulling on the roots. It shows up where tension is highest, the hairline, temples and edges, exactly where our styles concentrate their force.

Early signs are easy to miss: small bumps after a fresh install, tenderness dismissed as normal, broken hairs along the hairline, a hairline receding a few millimetres with each style.

Caught early, it is reversible, the follicles are stressed, not dead. After years of tension, the skin turns smooth and shiny and the loss can become permanent.

You do not have to abandon braids. You do have to change the rules: no style should hurt on day one, edges need breaks, and back-to-back installs trade beauty for your hairline. If your edges are already thinning, come in early, we combine medical treatment with a hairstyle plan that keeps you looking like you.
